Assassins Win USSSA Class E In Plano

Four Teams, One Day Tournament At Klatt Field On July 16th

PLANO: The Assassins went a perfect 3-0 to win the four team USSSA Men's Class E Great Lakes National Qualifier played at Klatt Field in Plano on July 16th. The champions earned a berth to play at the USSSA Great Lakes Men's Class E National in Waterloo Iowa over Labor Day Weekend. The Wreckers (2-2) from Carol Stream finished in second place with G-Force Labels & Printing (1-2) from Plano taking home third place from this tournament.
The Assassins opened tournament play with a 15-8 win over G-Force Labels & Printing in the first round of tournament play.
In their second round game the Assassins beat the Wreckers 12-9 to assure them of a spot in the tournaments championship game against whichever team that would win the loser's bracket to earn the right to oppose them in the finals.
It was the Wreckers who came out of the loser's bracket to challenge the Assassins in the title contest with the Assassins winning 15-2 over the Wreckers to complete their unbeaten run to the title at this tournament.

The Wreckers made it to the championship game by opening tournament play with a 15-9 first round win over M & S Xpress from Plano. In their second contest the Wrecker were beaten by the Assassins 12-9 to drop them down into the loser's bracket where they needed to defeat G-Force Labels & Printing 12-9 to earn a second shot at both the Assassins and the tournament title.
But this was as close as the Wreckers would get because the Assassins took care of business as they defeated the Wreckers 15-2 to send them packing the car for the trip home with a second place finish to their credit from this tournament.
