Slammers 2nd at ASA National Play-Offs in Oklahoma

: The ASA National web site reported the following as the Slammers from Frankford finished second at the ASA National play-off between the East and West champions. Laser Beam from California Defeated the Slammers in the fifth and deciding game 8-6 to win the National play-off at the Men's Class D level.
Men's Class D game 1:
October 19th, Laser Beam 16, Slammers 3
Matt Pesso had three hits, including an RBI-triple, for Laser Beam, while Teddy Pollizzi and Jason Klein also had three hits. Phil Hendricks added a double.
For the Slammers, Douglas Perez had an RBI-triple and three hits overall, while David Singer had two hits, including a double, and scored two runs.
Men's Class D game 2: October 19th, Slammers 17, Laser Beam 13
David Singer and James Matlock each had three hits, including two-run singles, for the Slammers. Jeff Berger, Brian Miller, Steve Tweetmeyer and Mark Bowen also had three hits each. Timothy Bowen had a double, as did Miller, while Tim Behrens had an RBI-triple.
For Laser Beam, Phil Hendricks had two RBI-doubles, while Teddy Pollizzi and Travis Junge each had a two-run single.
Men's Class D game 3: October 20th, Slammers 17, Laser Beam 9
A seven-run first inning helped the Slammers to the win. Jeff Berger had four hits and scored four runs, while Israel Sanchez had four hits, scored three runs and drove in two. David Singer and Brian Miller had four hits each and Douglas Perez added a double.
Derek Stults and Art Newcomb each had two-run inside-the-park home runs for Laser Beam. Newcomb also had two singles and Stults added a double. Matt Derrico had four hits in the game.
Men's Class D game 4: October 20th, Laser Beams 16 Slammers 4
Derek Stults had three hits and three RBI for Laser Beam, while Matt Pesso also had three hits. Tim Phipps had two doubles and two RBI, Art Newcomb had an RBI-double and Matt Derrico drove in two runs on a single.
For the Slammers, Timothy Bowen, Brian Miller and Jeff Berger each had two hits.
Men's Class D game 5: October 21st Laser Beam 8 Slammers 6, Laser Beam wins series 3-2
Tournament MVP Matt Derrico had a pair of RBI-singles for Laser Beam and Tim Phipps drove in two runs on three hits. Derek Stults had an RBI-double, Phil Hendricks and Teddy Pollizzi each had RBI-singles and Art Newcomb added a sacrifice fly.
Douglas Perez drove in three runs with a pair of doubles for Slammers. David Singer had an RBI-double, Mark Bowen drove in a run with a single, Israel Sanchez chipped in with a sacrifice fly and Steve Tweetmeyer hit a double.
