Area Wide Wins ISA Class D At Urbana

Five Teams Participate in Three Game Guarantee At Brickhouse Complex

URBANA: Area Wide (4-0) from Urbana won the five team/ three game guarantee ISA Men's Class D World Tournament qualifier played at the Brickhouse Complex in Urbana on May 13th. Cold Beer (3-2) from Urbana finished in second place, Headfirst (2-2) from Normal was third with both Charlie's (0-3) from Effingham and Kelly Glass (1-2) from Peoria tying for fourth place and this tournament.
Area Wide opened play with a 16-12 win over Kelly Glass in their opening game before they met and defeated Charlie's 13-3 in their second contest. Area Wide and Cold Beer hooked up with one another in the undefeated game with Area Wide winning by a final score of 16-3. Now Area wide had to sit back and wait as the loser's bracket was played out and when it was over a rematch with Cold Beer was on tap for Area Wide in the championship game. Area Wide was up to the task before the as they compete their unbeaten run to the title at this tournament by defeating Cold Beer 18-16 in the championship game.
Cold Beer Made it to the championship game by opening play with a 22-19 win over Head First before dropping their second contest to Area Wide 16-3. Cold Beer bounced back to defeat Head First for the second time on this day winning 19-4 to earn a second chance at Area Wide and the tournament title. Cold Beer could not get over the hump on this day losing for a second time to Area Wide by a final score of 18-16 to finish in second place at this tournament.
