Ambrosia Bar & Grill Wins USSSA Class E In Joliet

Fifteen Teams Participate At Inwood Sports Complex On July 22nd & 23rd

USSSA Men's Class E - Joliet Champions - Ambrosia Bar & Grill From Joliet

JOLIET: Ambrosia Bar & Grill (4-1) from Joliet bounced back in the 'if necessary game to defeat Balls Deep (5-2) from Midlothian 15-9 to win the USSSA Men's Class E Great Lakes National Tournament Qualifier played at the Inwood Sports complex in Joliet on July 22nd & 23rd. Ambrosia had previously won a qualifying tournament passed the berth to play at the Great Lakes Men's Class E National Tournament down to the tournament runner-up Balls Deep. Extreme (4-2) from Aurora took home third place with Sharp Softball (4-2) from Romeoville took home fourth place with both That Perennial Place (3-2) from Morris and Bada Bing (2-2) from Romeoville tied for fifth place at this tournament.
Ambrosia Bar & Grill opened tournament play with a first round bye before taking on and defeating Peanut Butter Jelly Time from Bolingbrook 9-8 in the second round of tournament play. Peanut Butter Jelly Time had defeated Wolf's Sealcoating / City of Champions 8-2 in the first round to advance into this second round contest against Ambrosia Bar & Grill. In their semifinal game of the winner's bracket on Saturday afternoon it was Ambrosia Bar & Grill stopping Bada Bing 8-7 to move into Sunday morning winners bracket finals. Bada Bing had defeated Alfa's III in the first round 20-5 before stopping That Perennial Place10-9 1n the second round to earn a match up with Ambrosia Bar & Grill in a semifinal game of the winner's bracket on Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday morning in the game that feature the last two remaining unbeaten teams from this fifteen teams in the field it was Ambrosia and Balls Deep tangling with one another for the first of three meetings on this Sunday with Ambrosia gaining the upper hand by winning 14-4 to give them the title to the winner's bracket portion of this tournament and also assuring them of a spot the championship game of this tour against whichever team that wins the loser's bracket to earn the right to challenge them in the finals.
Now Ambrosia had to sit and watch as the loser's bracket was being played out to its conclusion before knowing who their opponent would be in the finals but when the last play had been made in the loser's bracket a rematch with Balls Deep was on tap for the Ambrosia Bar & Grill ball club in the title game. Balls Deep took a pound of flesh from Ambrosia as they edged the Joliet squad 11-10 to even the tournament one loss each. In the 'if necessary game' that was played to decide the champion of this tournament it was Ambrosia bar & Grill over Balls Deep by a final score of 15-9 to give the title to Ambrosia bar & Grill to this tournament.
Balls Deep made it to the title game by opening play against Damaged Goods from Sugar Grove and promptly posted a 19-3 victory onto the bracket board to advance in the tournament. In the second round Balls Deep and the Hammers went at each other with Balls Deep winning 19-11 to move into a semifinal game of the winner's bracket. The Hammers had previously defeated High Voltage from Plainfield 14-9 in the first round of play to advance into their second round game against Balls Deep. Balls Deep closed out their Saturday with a perfect 3-0 record after stopping Extreme 11-1 to advance into Sunday morning's undefeated game of the winner's bracket. Extreme made it to this semifinal game of the winner's bracket by opening play with a 5-4 win over Precision Structures from Oswego in the first round and than posting a 15-4 win over Sharp Softball in the second round of play to advance into this semifinal game against Balls Deep.
On Sunday Balls Deep started their day off on the wrong foot as they dropped in game between the tournaments last two remaining unbeaten teams to Ambrosia Bar & Grill by a final score of 14-4. Now Balls Deep need to defeat Extreme fro a second time in two days to earn another shot at play ambrosia and winning the tournament title. Balls Deep took care of business as they sent Extreme home with third place after beating them 8-3. Now Balls Deep took some revenge on the team that had beaten them, earlier in the day by stopping Ambrosia undefeated string with an 11-10 win over them. Now it was one game for the title but this was as close as Balls Deep would get on this day as Ambrosia Bar & Grill found the right stuff to defeat balls Deep 15-9 and send them back home with second place from this tournament.
