Ambrosia Bar & Grill Wins USSSA Class E In Joliet

Memorial Day Classic Played At Inwood Sports Complex On May 27th

Ambrosia Bar & Grill Champions of USSSA Class E In Joliet on May 27th

JOLIET: Ambrosia bar & Grill from Joliet won the six team USSSA Men's Class E Great Lakes national Tournament qualifier played at the Inwood Sports Complex in Joliet on May 27th with a 3-1 record by defeating Collins Street Auto Parts / 3rd Base (6-2) from Joliet 17-14 in the 'if necessary game' to win the title at the Memorial Day Classic softball tournament. Alfa's (1-2) from Joliet finished in third place with the Big Easy Bar & Grill (2-2) from Yorkville taking home fourth place from this event.
Ambrosia Bar & Grill received a first round bye before taking on and defeating Fabri Tek from Naperville 19-7 in the second round of play to advance into the winner's bracket undefeated game. Fabri Tek had defeated Mickey's Grill and Pub / Newstar from Joliet 12-7 to advance into this second round game with Ambrosia Bar & Grill. IN the game that featured the last two remaining unbeaten teams left in this tournament it were Ambrosia Bar & Grill and Alfa's with Ambrosia Bar & Grill winning 10-4 to give them the championship to the winner's bracket in this tournament. Now Ambrosia Bar & Grill had to sit and wait until the loser's bracket played had been complete before knowing which of the remaining teams would emerge as their challenger in the championship game. When the loser's bracket was completed it was Collins Street Auto Parts / 3rd Base stepping forward to meet Ambrosia Bar & Grill in the title game. Collins Street Auto Parts / 3rd Base continued on their hot streak as the handed Ambrosia Bar & Grill a 10-4 loss to force the need to have the 'if necessary game' played between these two ball clubs in order to determine which of them would be the champion of this tournament. The extra game went in favor of Ambrosia as they claimed the top prize from this event by stopping the streaking Collins Street Auto Parts / 3rd Base ball club 17-14 in the deciding game of this tournament.
Tournament runner-up Collins Street Auto Parts / 3rd Base started their Saturday morning off with a 14-8 win over the Big Easy Bar & Grill to advance into the second round of play in the winner's bracket of this tournament. It was here that Collins Street Auto Parts / 3rd Base stumbled as they were defeated by Alfas 12-1 to drop them into the loser's bracket for the remainder of this tournament. Collins Street Auto Parts / 3rd Base went to work and started to send team to the parking lot starting with Mickey's Grill & Pub / Newstar by a final score of 15-0. Fabri Tek was excused nest when Collins Street Auto Parts / 3rd Base pounded out another win beating them 13-1. A rematch with the Big Easy Bar & Grill was on tap next for Collins Street Auto Parts / 3rd Base as they won again sending their opponent to the parking lot to pack their cars for the trip back home after beating them 15-10. Now Collins Street Auto Parts / 3rd Base was playing in the loser's bracket championship game with Alfas as their opponent and Collins Street Auto Parts / 3rd Base continued to hit the ball scoring twelve runs as they won again by a final score of 12-2 to advance into the championship game where they needed to upend unbeaten Ambrosia Bar & Grill twice to win the title to this tournament. Collins Street Auto Parts / 3rd Base took the field with that intention in mind and pounded the ball some more winning 10-4 to force the need to play the 'if necessary game' between these two squads in order to be able to determine which of them would be the champion from this tournament. In a high scoring game Collins Street Auto Parts / 3rd Base came up a few runs short losing to Ambrosia 17-14 to finish in second place at this USSSA Men's Class E Great Lakes National Tournament qualifier
