Byron USSSA C/E Equalizer Champions - Affordable Heating From Rockford

BYRON: Affordable Heating (4-0) from Rockford won the fourteen teams, USSSA Men's Class C/D Equalizer Tournament played at the Byron Sports Complex in Byron on May 20th. The champions earned a berth to play at the 2006 USSSA Men's Class C Great Lakes national tournament to be held over Labor Day Weekend in Indianapolis, IN. Byron Bank/Costa's/6-4-3 Softball (5-2) from Byron took home second place, Bar One (3-2) from De Kalb as third and Sage/Posse Softball Club (3-2) from Crystal Lake finished in fourth place.
Affordable Heating opened tournament play with a first round bye before taking on and defeating Hell Yea! From Itasca 20-16 in a high scoring wild back and forth game.
Affordable Heating improved to 2-0 with a narrow 9-7 win over Lord Stanley's from De Kalb to advance into the winners bracket undefeated game.
Affordable Heating popped Bar One's balloon with a lopsided 21-6 win to become the only unbeaten team left in this tournament. Now Affordable Heating got to sit back and wait as the loser's bracket need to be played out to its conclusion before they would know who they would be playing in the tournament's championship game. When the loser's bracket was completed it was Byron Bank/Costa's/6-4-3 Softball that emerged as the team to be facing Affordable Heating in the title contest. Affordable Heating kept their eyes on the goal at hand and stopped a hot Byron bank/Costa's/6-4-3 Softball ball club 10-8 to claim their title and the berth to play on Labor Day Weekend in Indiana.
Byron Bank/Costa's/6-4-3 Softball made it to the championship game by opening play with a first round 12-5 win over Tidal Wave from Elgin. In their second contest of this tournament it was Byron bank/Costa's/6-4-3 Softball defeating Wheels By RT/Triple Play from Rockford 17-10.
In their semifinal contest of this tournament Byron bank/Costa's/6-4-3 Softball stub their toe by losing to Bar One 7-6 to drop the Byron ball club into the loser's bracket.
Byron bank/Costa's/6-4-3 Softball start their way back to the title game by eliminating Hell Yea! first by a final score of 7-5. Next to exit this tournament at the hands of Byron Bank/Costa's/6-4-3 Softball was Sage/Posse Softball Club by a final score of 15-7. Byron Bank/Costa's/6-4-3 Softball now was able to take that pound of flesh from the team that had dropped them into the loser's bracket when they eliminated Bar One with third place after beating them 25-17.Now only unbeaten Affordable Heating stood between Byron Bank/Costa's/6-4-3 Softball and the tournament title but Affordable Heating proved to be the better team on this day winning 1110-8 to send Byron Bank/Costa's/6-4-3 Softball home with second place from this tournament.
