Ten Teams Participate At Harlem Community Center North

ROSCOE: Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction from Rockford went a perfect 5-0 to win the ten team USSSA Men's Class D National Qualifier played at Harlem Community Center North in Roscoe on the weekend of July 23rd & 24th. The champions earned e berth to play at the 2005 USSSA Men's Class D Great Lakes national Tournament to be held in Blaine Minnesota over Labor Day Weekend. C & C Plumbing (4-2) FROM Rockford was second, Locos (4-2) from Waukegan took home third place, Straightline Mowing (2-2) was fourth with both Neighbors Bar & Grill/Winter Construction (1-2) from Rockford and Dairy Queen Grill and Chill (1-2) from Rockford tying for fifth place at this tournament.
Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction open tournament play with a play in pigtail game where they met and defeated the fall Guys 22-0 to move into the first round of tournament play. In their second contest of this tournament it was Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction over Kline Construction from Elgin 15-5 to move them into the semifinal of the winner's bracket.
In their third game on Saturday it was Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction over Neighbors Bar & Grill/Winter Construction 18-7 to put Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction into Sunday's undefeated game. Neighbors Bar & Grill/Winter Construction had beaten Locos 7-3 in the first round of tournament action to advance into this semifinal game with Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction.
On Sunday in the game between the last two remaining unbeaten teams it was Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction and C & C Plumbing locking horns with each other and Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction came out on top by a final score of 12-9 to win the winner's bracket.
Now Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction had to sit and wait as the loser's bracket needed to be played out to its conclusion before they would know which of the remaining teams would be the survivor and their opponent in the championship game. When the dust finally settled back down onto the field of play it was a rematch with C & C Plumbing that awaited Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction in the title contest. This time Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction left no doubt as to which of these two teams was going to win the tournament on this day as Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction record a impressive 13-3 win to take home the top prize from this tournament.

C & C Plumbing narrowly slipped past Dairy Queen Grill & Chill in the semifinal by a final score of 6-5. This win put C & C Plumbing into Sunday unbeaten game between the last two remaining teams without any loses at this tournament.
On Sunday C & C Plumbing started their day off by stubbing their toe as they were beaten by Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction 12-9. This loss dropped C & C Plumbing into the loser's bracket championship game were they needed to send the Locos home in order to earn a second chance at Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction and the tournament title. C & C Plumbing took care of business in this game winning impressively by a score of 19-2 to earn a second chance at the unbeaten Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction ball club.
The championship game was not kind to C & C Plumbing as they were soundly defeated by Advantage Consulting/Rigid Construction by a final score of 13-3 forcing them to accept the second place prize package from this tournament.
