Advance Softball Wins ASA Women's
Open State
Five Team Round Robin Event In
Jacksonville On July 30th

JACKSONVILLE: Five of the best
women's slow pitch softball teams in the state of Illinois gathered
in Jacksonville on July 30th to play in the 2005 Women's ASA Open
State Tournament. The tournament was formatted as a round robin
and when the dust settled back down on the field of play after the
last out had been recorded they need to go to the tie breaker rules
to separate the top two teams. Both Advanced Softball (3-1) from
Godfrey and Prime Time (3-1 from Charleston tied with the best record
as Advance Softball got the state championship trophy based on their
head to head victory over Prime Time softball. Ball Park Motors
(2-2) from Jacksonville was third, with Stage II Softball (2-2)
from St Louis Missouri finishing in fourth place with Challengers
(0-4) from Decatur placing fifth.
Advance Softball opened play with a close 5-4 win over Ball Park
Motors in their opening contest of this tournament.
The ladies from Godfrey stubbed their toe in their second game losing
to Stage II Softball by a final score of 6-2 to even their tournament
record at one win and on loss.
Game number three proved to be the championship game as Advance
Softball and Prime Time went toe to toe with each other and when
the skirmish was over the score board read Advance Softball 6 and
Prime Time 5 to up Advance Softball tournament record to 2-1.
Advance Softball knew if they won their last game they would be
the 2005 ASA Women's Open State champions when they took the field
to play against Challengers. The Advance Softball ball club left
that field of play as the 2005 ASA Women's State champions after
they defeated Challengers 9-1 to put the ribbon on their state title.
Illinois Softball Report did not receive any team information, stats,
highlights or quotes from the Advance Softball ball club on how
they won their 2005 ASA Women's Open State title.
Tournament runner-up Prime Time used the highly potent offense as
they scored twenty-two runs in their opening game to defeat Stage
II Softball 22-13 to start this tournament off on the right foot.
In their second contest Prime Time and Challengers faced each other
as the Prime Time offense continued to click on all cylinders as
they won big by posting a 19-2 victory up on the bracket board to
improve to 2-0 in this tournament at the half way point for the
ladies from Charleston.
In their third contest of this four game round robin event Prime
Time and Ball Park Motors tied up with each other with the Prime
Time ladies escaping with a one run win to improve to 3-0 in this
tournament after posting a 5-4 victory onto the bracket board.
Primetime had only one more game to play and they went head to head
with the only team left that could catch them for the state title,
Advance Softball. In a close game that was decided by a single run
it was Advance Softball handing Prime Time a 6-5 loss and with that
loss dropping them into the position of being the 2005 ASA Women's
Open State Tournament runner ups.
Prime Time did not provide Illinois Softball Report with any information,
stats, highlights or quotes on how they were able to achieve their
second place finish at the2005 ASA Women's Open State Tournament.
