Add-A-Bath/Demarini Champions Of USSSA Women's Class C/D In Joliet

JOLIET: Add-A-Bath/Demarini (3-0) from Gurnee won the Illinois USSSA Women's Class C/D Equalizer Tournament held at the Inwood Sports Complex in Joliet on June 25th with a perfect 3-0 record over a field of six teams that had entered. The champions had previously won a USSSA qualifier so they converted the berths into sponsor travel money. Rosati's Of Wheaton (3-2) from Warrenville finished in seconds place with Dilligaf (2-2) from Lansing taking home third place and Hammertime (1-2 - and also the highest finishing Class D team) from Frankfort earning fourth place honors from this tournament.
Add-A-Bath/Demarini received a first round bye before taking on 3WD from Villa Park in the second round of tournament play and spotting the Class D team five runs before posting an impressive 18-11 win up onto the bracket board to advance into the winner's bracket finals. 3WD had won their first round game over the Chi-Town Lady Rebels by a final score of 5-4 to advance into this second round contest.
In the game between the tournament last two remaining unbeaten teams it was Add-A-Bath/Demarini beating Rosati's Of Wheaton 20-13 as the Gurnee ladies claimed the title to the winner's bracket and assured them selves as pot in the tournament's championship game against which ever team that would win the loser's bracket to earn the right to challenge them in the finals.
The championship game was a rematch with Rosati's Of Wheaton. This game was in doubt right up to when the final out was record, and when it was record Add-A-Bath/Demarini held a slim 13-12 lead to win this tournament undefeated.

Tournament runner-up Rosati's Of Wheaton opened play with a match up against Hammertime and after spotting them five runs to start the game the ladies from Warrenville came roaring back to win 18-11 in the first round of this tournament.
Rosati's Of Wheaton than took the field with Dilligaf occupying the other dugout in the second round of play. In a close game that saw several lead changes Rosati's Of Wheaton came out on top by the final score of 15-12 to advance into the winner's bracket championship game. Dilligaf had received a first round bye to advance into this second round contest with Rosati's Of Wheaton.
In the game between the tournaments last two remaining unbeaten teams it was Add-A-Bath/Demarini winning over Rosati's Of Wheaton by a final score of 20-13.
This loss dropped Rosati's Of Wheaton into the loser's bracket championship game where they needed to win against Dilligaf in order to earn a second shot at Add-A-Bath/Demarini and the tournament title.
Rosati's Of Wheaton did just that winning convincingly over Dilligaf 17-8 to qualify as the second team that would be playing in the championship game.
The title contest was a heart breaker for Rosati's Of Wheaton as they had given their all on a very hot day and came up one run short losing to Add-A-Bath/Demarini 13-12 and having to settle for second place from this tournament.
