Add-A-Bath Demarini Wins USSSA Women's C/D

Eleven Teams Participate At Forest Hills Diamonds In Rockford On May 14th & 15th

ROCKFORD: Eleven Teams came to Rockford on May 14th & 15th to play in the Women's USSSA Class C/D Equalizer Tournament held at the Forest Hills Diamonds Complex with Add-A-Bath/Demarini 4-0 from Gurnee walking away with the top prize of a paid state berth plus $50.00 paid towards their USSSA Women's Class C National Berth. Cook's Grading (5-2) from Wisconsin took home second place which included $100.00 toward their USSSA Women's Class C National berth, High Voltage (2-2) from St Charles finished in third place which included $50.00 toward their 2005 Illinois USSSA Women's State berth with Neighbors Bar & Grill (3-2) from Rockford finishing in fourth place but since they were the highest finishing Class D team they earned a paid State berth.
Add-A-Bath/Demarini opened tournament play with a first round bye before taking on Ispen International in the second round and posting an 9-7 win up onto the bracket board. Ispen International had advance to this game by defeating Cooks Grading 13-6 in the first round of tournament play.
Add-A-Bath/Demarini won their second game on Saturday when they met and defeated Blackhawk Athletic Club 11-7. Blackhawk Athletic Club made it to this game by opening with a 5-3 win over Northern Diamonds/Worth in the first round before walking past St Louis Divas 7-0 in the second round when they ladies from St Louis did not show up at the appointed game time.
On Sunday Add-A-Bath/Demarini squared off with High Voltage in the game between the tournament's last two unbeaten team with Add-A-Bath/Demarini getting the better of it between these two team as they post a 7-5 win onto the bracket board to become the only remaining unbeaten team left in this tournament which also assured them of a spot in the tournament's championship game against whichever team would win the loser's bracket.
High Voltage made it to this game by opening play on Saturday with a first round bye before defeating Dilligaf 5-4 in the second round of play and them posting a win over Rock Bottom 21-10 in their semifinal game of the winner's bracket.
When the loser's bracket was complete Cooks Grading emerged as they opponent for Add-A-Bath/Demarini in the title contest. Add-A-Bath/Demarini took care of business winning 16-11 to complete their undefeated sweep of the field of teams at this tournament.

Cook's Grading took the long way to the title game by losing their opener to Ispen International 13-6. This loss dropped them into the loser's bracket where they went to work sending team's home starting with Northern Diamonds/Worth ball club by a final score of 11-0. Ispen International was sent home next as Cook's Grading posted a 10-7 win onto the bracket board to close out play on Saturday.
On Sunday the ladies from Wisconsin continued their winning ways as they defeated Blackhawk Athletic Club 13-11 to advance once again. Next to leave the tournament was Neighbors Bar & Grill by the final score of 19-9. In the loser's bracket championship game Cook's Grading defeated High Voltage 6-5 to earn the right to oppose Add-A-Bath/Demarini in the tournament's championship game. Add-A-Bath/Demarini was not to be denied as they handed the Wisconsin ladies a 16-11 loss to send them home with second place.
