Rockford: The Illinois USSSA Held its 17th
Annual Hall of Fame Induction Dinner at the Radisson Hotel &
Conference Center in Rockford with eight individuals entering into
the honorary hall for their achievements in slow pitch softball.
More than two hundred people attended the evening's sit down dinner
to honor this year's inductee's.
After the completion of dinner the evenings Master of ceremonies
Chuck Fisher from Louisville, KY opened the evenings program with
Fisher saying, "The ultimate honor that can be bestow upon
a player, coach, manager, director, umpire, sponsor or anyone involved
in the game of softball, in the state of Illinois is to be nominated,
elected and than inducted into the USSSA Hall of Fame of Illinois."
Illinois USSSA Executive Director Brenda Paulson spoke next and
said; "One of the things that makes the hall of fame so special
is that we have so many former inductee's to the hall of fame that
are with us tonight". She went on to read the names of those
past inductees (thirty-two) that were present by the year in which
they were inducted. Each of the past inductees stood as their name
was called and were recognized by those at the induction ceremony.
As each inductee completed their remarks to the evenings crowd Paulson
would say a few words about each inductee and present them with
a crystal Hall of Fame statue, their Hall of Fame ring and a certificate
commemorating their induction. The certificate read, 'United States
Slo-Pitch Softball Association Illinois Hall of Fame (players name
& category that they are being inducted in), upon nomination
and election of the Illinois Hall of Fame election committee of
the Illinois USSSA you are here by inducted as a member of the Illinois
United States Slow-Pitch Softball Association Hall of Fame the 5th
day of November, 2011. This high honor to be recognized forever
in the Illinois USSSA Hall of Fame."
