Illinois USSSA Announces
New Pay-out Formula
For Tournaments

Rockford: Illinois USSSA Slow-pitch
State Director Mike Peura, announced from their annual pre-season
directors meeting held at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center
in Rockford a new cash payment format that can be used (local USSSA
Area Directors option) in all men's Class D & C National Qualifiers.
The basic prize formula calls for a prize pool of approximately
$100 per team in a Class D tournament and $150 per team in a Class
C tournament.
A team must take a paid state berth and a paid nation berth before
earning the cash payouts. After a team has earned both a paid state
and a paid national tournament berths all other money will be paid
back to the teams tournament sponsor in the form of a check.
In 2007 the Illinois USSSA had nine Class D tournaments with more
than eighteen or more teams entered into each of these nine events.
The total number of teams entered in these nine events was 214.
Using the above formula; 214 teams entered at $100 per team going
to the prize pool would equal twenty one thousand four hundred dollars
to be earned by the top finishing teams in those nine events.
With this system being used in a Class C tournament at $150 per
team going into the prize pool. Using this formula an eight team
event would generate $1200 being paid back to the teams after all
top finishing teams have earned their paid berths.
Please contact your local USSSA Tournament Director to confirm if
their qualifier will be using this new option payout method. All
teams entering a cash payout tournament must have their team roster
on line prior to the start of the tournament.
All Illinois USSSA Men's Class E tournament will award only paid
berths as has been done in previous years. However all Illinois
USSSA Men's Class E teams are encouraged to try playing in a Class
D event and if they earn money from one of these new formatted tournaments
they will be paid along the same guidelines as a USSSA Men's Class
D team playing in the same tournament.
Not all Illinois USSSA Directors have decide as of this date if
they are going to be using this optional payout formula in 2008.
As of this posting date the Rockford May 3rd & 4th Class D &
C tournaments, all Joliet Class D & Class C tournaments, all
Crystal Lake tournaments, Byron Fest, and Sugar Grove's 'Corn Boil'
tournament will all be paying out cash to the teams. Please contact
your local Illinois USSSA tournament director to confirm if the
tournament you are interested in entering will be using this new
payout system.
