Swingers Win ISA Men's Class E In Bartonville

Ten Teams Participate At Alpha Park On June 9th

BARTONVILLE: The Swingers from Bartonville went a perfect 4-0 to win the ten team, I.S.A. Men's Class E National Qualifier at Alpha Park in Bartonville on June 9th. The champions earned a paid berth to play at the 2007 I.S.A. Men's Class E Nationals to be held August 25th & 26th at the Brickhouse Complex in Urbana and a berth to play at the 2007 I.S.A. Men's Class E State Tournament also to be held at the Brickhouse Complex in Urbana on July 21st & 22nd. Tournament runner up Earps (3-2) from Peoria took home a paid state berth for their second place finish at this event. Off In The Woods (4-2) from Peoria took home third place with Team Miken (2-2) from Champaign finished in fourth place at this tournament.
Swingers opened play with a first round match up against the Sultan of Swat from Bloomington and came away with an 11-2 win to advance into the semifinal of the winner's bracket. The Sultan of Swat had won a pigtail game over Matco Tools from East Peoria 12-3 to advance into this first round match up against the Swingers.
In the semifinal it was the Swingers over TNT from East Peoria 14-3 to put them into the tournament undefeated game. TNT had stopped R & B from Canton 6-5 in the first round of play to advance into this semifinal game against the Swingers.
In the winner's bracket unbeaten game the Swingers and Earps went toe to toe for the first of two meetings on this Saturday afternoon with the Swingers coming out on top by a final score of 11-6 to advance into the tournaments championship game.
The deciding game was a rematch of the Swingers against Earps with the Swingers completing their unbeaten run to the title by posting a 10-8 victory onto the bracket board to claim the title and earn the berth to play at the 2007 ISA Men's Class E National Tournament.
Earps made it to the championship game by opening tournament play with a first round 20-4 win over Peddlers Way from Peoria. Peddlers Way had won a pigtail game over Old Chicago from Peoria 11-9 to advance into the first round match up against Earps.
In their semifinal game Earps met and defeated Team Miken in a close game 18-17. Team Miken had previously defeated Off In The Woods 24-4 in the first round to earn their way into this semifinal match up against Earps.
In the tournaments undefeated game Earps came out on the short end of an 11-6 score as they were defeated by the Swingers dropping them into the losers bracket championship game where they met and defeated Off In The Woods in a close game 11-10 to earned a second change at playing the Swingers for the tournament title. The day belonged to the Swingers as Earps was forced to accept second place after they dropped a 10-8 decision in the championship game to the Swingers.
