Paradise Motor Group Wins ISA D State

Thirty-five Teams Participate At The Brickhouse In Urbana

2007 ISA Men's Class D State Champions - Paradise Motor Group From Joliet

URBANA: Paradise Motor Group (6-1) from Joliet bounced back in the 'if necessary game' to defeat City Blue / Harold's (6-2) from Pekin 15-10 to win the 2007 ISA Men's Class D State Tournament held at the Brickhouse Complex in Urbana on August 4th & 5th. Finishing in third place at this thirty-five team event was Yep! (6-2) from Lockport with Stadium Club (6-2) from Dunlap took home fourth place. Rounding out the top ten were both the Wizards (3-2) St. Charles and Pub II / Pal (3-2) from Bloomington finishing in a tie for fifth place with both Pottsies (4-2) from Pekin and Burton Drywall (3-2) from Arcola finishing in a tie for seventh place and a four way tie for ninth place going to Shoeless Joe's (2-2) from Mokena, Bombers (2-2) from Mackinaw, HRC / Harvey & Stuckel (3-2) from Bartonville and the Brew Dogs (3-2) from Glen Ellyn.
The champions Paradise Motor Group were led to the title by the play of their pitcher Terry Finney who was named as the MVP of the 2007 ISA Men's Class D State Tournament. Joining Finney on the 2007 ISA Men's Class D All-State Tournament Team were his Paradise Motor Group teammates: Brandon More, Stan Roeder, Darren McEvilly, Sean Tud Hope, Jake Pool, and Manager Rusty Ruettiger.
Paradise Motor group opened play with a first round match-up against Mill Works from Pekin and won a close game 8-7 to advance into the second round of play in the winner's bracket. In their second game on Saturday evening Paradise and Stadium Club collided with Paradise winning their second straight one run game as they advanced in the bracket after posting a 15-14 win onto the bracket board. The Stadium Club had beaten Black Dog from Springfield 12-8 in the first round of play in Saturday afternoon to advance into this second round contest with Paradise Motor Group.
Late on Saturday evening in the third round of play Paradise Motor Group and Burton Drywall went at one another with Paradise Motor Group gaining the upper hand by wining 19-9 to advance into Sunday's semifinal round of the winner's bracket. Burton Drywall made it to this third round game against Paradise Motor Group by defeating the Desperados from Jonesboro 15-9 in the first round of play and than stopping Line Drive from Normal 21-7 in the second round to earn the right to play Paradise Motor Group in the third round of tournament action in the winner's bracket.
On Sunday at noon it was Paradise Motor Group and the Wizards meeting in a semifinal game of the winner's bracket and Paradise Motor Group brought their hitting shoes with them as they platted nineteen runs winning 19-13 over the Wizards. The Wizards made it to this Sunday semifinal game of the winner's bracket by opening play against the Lakota Tribe from Champaign and winning 18-5. In their second game on Saturday afternoon the Wizards met and defeated Pottsies 16-6 sending them into Saturday evenings third round of the winner's bracket where they Wizards took on and defeated Yep! 17-12 to earn the right to play in Sunday's semifinal of the winner's bracket at the 2007 ISA Men's Class D State Tournament.
On Saturday afternoon in the game that featured the last two remaining unbeaten teams Paradise Motor Group and City Blue / Harold's played each other head to head with the Joliet based Paradise Motor Group winning the first of what would be three games played between these two squads on this Sunday afternoon as Paradise Motor Group posted a 26-16 win onto the bracket board to become the only unbeaten team left in this tournament.
