24th Annual Preseason Tournament
Held At Klatt Field In Plano
PLANO: Howey's Precision Structures from Aurora ran
the table going 4-0 to win the Plano's 24th Annual Rock Creek Earlybird
Tournament on April 16th through 20th. The champions pocketed three
hundred dollars for their play from this event. G-Force Labels (3-1)
from Plano finished in second place after dropping the championship
game to Howey's Precision Structures 6-5 in eight innings. Fabri-Tek
(3-1) from Aurora took home third place with St George's (3-1) from
Aurora taking home fourth place from this four game guarantee event.
Howey's Precision Structures opened their tournament play on Wednesday
evening with a 9-5 win over the Wreckers from St Charles in the
first round of play.
In their second game they stopped St George's (no score was reported
from this game) from Aurora to advance into the semifinal of the
winner's bracket. St. George's had previously defeated Plano Legion
21-11 on Thursday evening to advance into this second round contest
with Howey's Precision Structures.
On Sunday afternoon Howey's Precision Structures tangled with Fabri-Tek
and posted an 8-6 win onto the bracket board to advance into the
tournament's championship game.
Fabri-Tek made it to this semifinal game of the winner's bracket
by opening play on Wednesday evening with a 9-4 win over Life Construction
from Plano before stopping CRC from Aurora 12-6 in the second round
of play in the winner's bracket to earn them the right to challenge
Howey's Precision Structures in a semifinal game of the winner's
bracket of this tournament.
In the championship game of the of the 24th Annual Plano Earlybird
Tournament Howey's Precision Structures and G- Force Labels locked
horns in a classic championship game taking eight innings to decide
and when it was over a single run separated these two ball clubs
with Howey's Precision Structures winning 6-5 in the deciding game.
G-Force Labels made it to the title contest by opening play on Wednesday
evening with a first round 5-4 win over Klubs from Sycamore to move
into Saturday's second round of play.
On Saturday G-Force Labels and Little Bro Joe's Pizza from Plano
squared off with one another and when it was over G-Force Labels
posted a 12-1 victory onto the bracket board to continue their advancement
towards the championship game.
Little Bro Joe's Pizza had beaten Stan's Alone from Plano 8-4 in
their first round game on Thursday evening.
On Sunday G-Force Labels and Shala Farms Oswego locked horns with
one another in semifinal game of the winner's bracket with G-Force
labels getting the better of it between these two squads winning
11-1. Shala Farms made it to this semifinal game of the undefeated
bracket by opening tournament play on Thursday evening with a 14-8
victory of Caterpillar from Aurora. On Saturday Shala Farms and
M & L Distributor from Plano were paired up and in a high scoring
game Shala Farms was one run better on this day winning 16-15.
In the championship game G Force labels gave it their best shot
and took the game into extra innings before falling a single run
short losing to Howey's Precision Structures 6-5 in eight innings
to finish in second place at the 24th Annual Plano Earlybird tournament.
