The Illinois Amateur Softball Association proudly
announces the individuals and teams selected for induction into
our Illinois Softball Hall of Fame. The formal induction ceremony
will be held at the Decatur Hotel and Convention Center on April
9, 2011. The list of inductees for 2011 are as follows:
MIKE HOPKINS, Belleville
..Played
men's fastpitch softball for 20 years for the best teams in the
Midwest and the Nation. A slick-fielding shortstop-third baseman,
Hop was always one of the leading hitters on his teams;
United Van Lines, GMAC and Budweiser Kings in St. Louis and Decatur,
Bloomington Hearts and Fairview Heights in Illinois. He hit over
.400 in 1979 for Decatur. He is a member of the St. Louis Metro
Hall of Fame.
LARRY DIUGUID, Royalton (Deceased)
..Played
men's fastpitch softball for almost 40 years for his home town
team. Hit over 300 home runs and could play any position except
pitcher. MVP for state championship team in 2002. Made two All
American teams while playing in the Masters Division.
HANK DUNHAM, Wood River
..Slopitch
player for over 30 years on the local, state and national levels.
Considered one of the finest players ever in the Southwest Illinois
area. Played on ten Illinois ASA state championship teams. Also
coached JO girls team(s) and won an 18 and under state championship
in Galesburg in 2008.
LEROY STALEY, Casey
..Sponsor of Illinois
fastpitch softball in Casey area. Organized the first boys team
in Casey, his 1980 Stingers women's fastpitch team won the state
championship. Also co-sponsored the Casey Truckers. Currently
serving as the President of the Illinois ASA Softball Hall of
Fame and Museum in Casey.
LINDA WILSON, Jacksonville
..Recognized
for Meritorious Service. Played, umpired and has been an Illinois
ASA commissioner for 15 years. Made all-state team in 1992 in
Champaign, umpired in two national tournaments and still works
in ASA state tournaments in various capacities.
LLOYD STEWART, Benton
..Lloyd has
worked as an umpire for 32 years and is still working for ASA.
He has umpired in 31 Illinois ASA state tournaments
and 13 ASA national tournaments. Also served as UIC for three
Illinois ASA state tournaments and worked the US Olympic team
game here in Illinois. Lloyd is a former recipient of the Illinois
ASA Don Plarski Umpire Award.
JOE TOMLINSON, Champaign
..In men's
fastpitch, Joe played over 25 years with Decatur Fleetwood Oil,
Pittsburg Plate Glass, Maroa Perfect, Decatur Rileys and Sadorus
Woodworth Trucking. During his career, he was named to six all
state teams, four at the major level and two in the lower division.
Played for the Sadorus state championship team in 1985.
NOTE: In addition to the individuals, four teams were selected
for the Illinois ASA team Hall of Fame category. Those four teams
are:
VANDALIA FREIGHT

team that won 2005 and 2007 Class A National Championships.
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS MASTERS
.. Men's
over 50 team that won 1999 National Championship.
EFFINGHAM TURNER TRUCKING
.Men's slopitch
team that won 833 games, lost 249 and finished in the top four
in the Illinois ASA state finals four times.
