Glen Brandt - Sponsor - Pleasant Plains

Glen Brandt sponsored the Pleasant Plains Brandt Chemical team for over twenty-five years. His 1985 team won the Illinois ASA Men's Major Fast-pitch State Tournament. Brandt is also a longtime sponsor and supporter of local youth teams.

Greg Reed introduced his friend and sponsor Glen Brandt to the audience. During his remarks about Brandt Reed said, "He always wanted us to play for the love of the game and to be positive." Reed went on to say, "On behalf of all Brandt's players I think we owe him a special thank you for providing us with so much pleasure through all those years." Reed closed his remarks by saying, "It was a family. We did not change many players through the years. We played different eras but we stayed together."

Rick Brandt accepted in place of his father Glen Brandt and said, "He is very humbled by this award." Rick Brandt went on to say, "G.B. he prefers that every one call him that, just celebrated his eighty-fourth birthday last week. He was very proud to sponsor the Brandt softball team and all the guys who played on it. He would be especially thankful to all the guys that are here tonight. I asked him what is proudest moment from that team he said, 'When we kicked ADM ---.' Rick Brandt closed by saying, "To the 84 team and to all the Brandt teams over the years GB says thank you and thank you very much to the association for this award."
